I saw a stroke of genius yesterday.
I was driving through Fall River, MA when it happened.
In Fall River? When was the last time you saw something you could call genius?
What I came across was a…
…food truck.
This was no ordinary food truck. Whoever owned this food truck was a genius.
You see, he parked his food truck at the medical marijuana dispensary.
Talk about finding motivated customers.
One question I get asked all the time is:
“What breed of dog is the easiest to train?”
I don’t believe there is an easiest breed to train. I agree certain breeds are more motivated than others. And that is the easiest dog to train.
A MOTIVATED dog!
This is why border collies are popular with dog trainers. The same reason poodles are popular with groomers. If you are a groomer and want to show off your skills you get a poodle.
Border collies tend to be very motivated dogs. They love toys, food, interaction, and movement.
The best thing you can do for training is develop motivation in your dog. The more motivated your dog is, the easier it will be to train your dog.
If your dog always has access to his food bowl it will be difficult to use food to motivate the dog. If your dog has toys scattered all over the house it may be difficult to use toys to motivate.
If your dog demands your attention at any moment it may be difficult to use praise to motivate.
Motivation is the key to training your dog. Develop motivation in your dog and training will be much easier.
That’ll do it for today.
